Where to Place the Offer: Checkout Upsell Patterns by Industry

· TourScanner Team

The same catalog can be sold in different ways depending on your purchase flow. Here are the placements that fit each kind of business.

Where to Place the Offer Checkout Upsell Patterns by Industry

Three placement patterns

  • Inline, before payment. A small card in the review step. Highest visibility, but it needs the most care, because it sits next to your main purchase. The activity is still booked and paid for separately.
  • Post-purchase confirmation. The traveler has paid and is looking at their confirmation. Lowest risk, and consistently the easiest place to start.
  • Email and reminders. A confirmation email, and a pre-trip message a few days before departure.

Match the offer to the moment

  • At the review step, keep it light: one or two offers that fit the trip.
  • On the confirmation page, you can show a short list of three to five.
  • In the pre-trip email, show the most time-sensitive options, such as timed-entry attractions.
  • For transfers, raise them early, since arrival logistics are something travelers want to solve.

Don't forget to localize
